Demo at college for better facilities

Express News Service

Around 1,800 students of the Dr Ambedkar Government Arts College at Vyasarpadi staged a sit-in on the college campus on Friday demanding improvement of basic infrastructure. Students alleged that the college campus lacks facilities like proper toilets and playgrounds. “Several local people are using the campus as a dumping place. Construction debris is dumped on the campus. There is a lake near the campus, which is poorly maintained. The entire campus has turned unhygienic,” said P B Navin, president of student council.

The students also highlighted the lack of adequate classrooms for a few courses. The college principal, PWD officials and local political representatives pacified the students who later called off the agitation.
