CHENNAI: The three little women are three sisters – one an engineer and the other two doctors. Smart genes run in the family, one might think but professional progress is not the only thing to boast about for these three women. Prathibha, Gayathri and Jeyashree have recently become authors of a bestselling book titled, The Three Little Women From 73/14 I Ganesh Illam.
It all began in early 2010 when the sisters decided to blog with the name Three Little Women. Having a flair for English and a English professor for a mother, writing came naturally for the sisters. Childhood experiences, memories, everyday life and family are some of the topics they wrote on. A few years and a 100 blogs later the sisters decided to put all together in a book but found that their work was overwhelming to be contained in a single book.
“We wanted to release a book after our 100th blog but it was too much so we had to do with about 35 blogs”, says Prathibha, but without regrets. The book is for anybody who wants to have a light, positive read of a collection of memories from the past without any regrets. This honest writing about the past has garnered positive reviews and has figured as a Bestseller on Amazon website within a couple of days of its release.
This casual writing that has garnered a lot of encouraging feedback from readers has motivated the sisters, who have taken the self-publishing route, to explore releasing yet another volume of their blogs. “Our first attempt at self-publishing has turned out to be good. We will try to take the traditional route now and maybe fall back on self-publishing if it does not work,” says an enthused Parthibha.
So, ask the sisters if they would want to leave their career to become full-time writers and the instant reply is ‘no’. Prathibha, an assistant professor of Physiology in a medical college does not want to give up teaching while Gayatri, a software engineer, and Jeyashree, a postgraduate in Public Health wants to pursue her profession. Nevertheless, writing and blogging will always be a part of them, the sisters say in unison.
The book The Three Little Women From 73/14 I Ganesh Illam is available on Amazon Kindle as an e-book for `90 and the hard copy costs `260.
