Nasser's son shows signs of slight 'movement'

CHENNAI: Exactly a month after a horrific crash nearly ended the life of actor Nasser’s son Faizal, doctors at Chettinad Health City have said that he is steadily showing small signs of movement. “He is recovering very slowly and given the nature of the accident, this is to be expected. Now there are steady signs of his eyeball moving when we shine light and also slight movement in the lower limbs,” said Dr Ravindran, Dean at the hospital on OMR.

City Express had reported and brought back scenes of the carnage that ensued when the Volkswagen Polo GT that Faizal and his four friends were driving, from Puducherry to Chennai that morning. The high-speed car had rammed a lorry that was heading in the opposite direction and the impact had totalled the car — and killed three of the five youths inside it. Only Faizal and his friend survived and they were in an equally critical condition. They were taken to the Chengalpet GH after which they were shifted to Chettinad as it is the closest centre with a neuro-trauma unit.

At least four surgeries have been performed on him and the rehabilitation is likely to take several months, added hospital sources. “The family, especially his mother Kameela has been coming every day from their house in Valasaravakkam to visit him and she spends her time taking care of him and watching as life gradually returns to his still form. There is no doubt that he will make a full recovery,” said a source close to the family. His father, prolific actor and director Nasser had insisted on returning to shooting three days after the crash, but makes it a point to visit his son whenever possible.
