Express News Service

The criminal proceedings against TD Naidu, chairman of the defunct DD Medical College and Hospital in Punnavalam village in Tiruvallur district, initiated by the district crime branch were stayed by the Madras High Court, last week.

According to advocate Abudukumar Rajarathinam, a complaint dated July 22, 2011 had been given to the Central Vigilance Commission and the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation  (CBI) against the Secretary of Medical Council of India in New Delhi contending that the MCI secretary was demanding `30 crore for renewal of approval to the college. Based on the complaint, the said secretary had been removed from service by orders of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Moreover, at the time of admission, the college had independently executed deeds of declarations.

It would go to show that the students were not illegally admitted, he  added.
