Free Artificial Limbs Distributed

About 25 differently abled persons from across the State received free artificial limbs and other equipment worth ` 1.5 lakh, at an event organised by the SC Agarwal Charitable Trust and Lions Club, New Ashok Nagar, here recently.

About 25 differently abled persons from across the State received free artificial limbs and other equipment worth ` 1.5 lakh, at an event organised by the SC Agarwal Charitable Trust and Lions Club, New Ashok Nagar, here recently.

Apart from artificial limbs, both upper and lower, the differently abled persons, who were from Vellore, Thanjavur and Tirunelveli, were also given calipers, crutches and tricycles.

“Some of them come to the club or the differently abled association. We verify their documents and refer them to the trust for free aids and appliances. The material used to make them are procured from Jaipur and some in Chennai,” said K Gopinath, the club treasurer.

The organisers said that they had been involved in distribution of free artificial limbs for the past 10 years and covered at least 30 differently abled persons once in two months.

SC Agarwal, founder chairman, SC Agarwal Charitable Trust, K Logu, project committee director, Lions Club of Chennai, New Ashok Nagar, Justice TN Vallinayagam, Judge, Lok Adalat, High Court of Madras and film actor Madan Bob were present at the event.
