Grand 81st Birthday for Meena Muthiah

CHENNAI: Music, dance, emotions, happiness and enthusiasm marked the 81st birthday of Kumara Rani of Chettinad Meena Muthiah at the Mayor Chettiar Hall on Thursday.

Amudha Lakshmi, principal of Chettinad Vidyashram school, greeted the guests and dignitaries at the celebrations.

In a special address, Dr B K Krishnaraj Vanavarayan blessed Meena Muthiah, wishing her a long life.

Kalaimamani Dr Sarada Nambi Aarooran, former State Information Commissioner, said, “I call her amma because she taught me the way to live. Even at this age, she continues to serve society, inspiring people around her. I wish her the best of everything.”

As a tribute to the educationist, a book titled ‘The Journey of a Living Legend,’ was released.

Noted personalities like Mrs YG Parthasarathy, danseuse Padma Subrahmanyam and former minister P Chidambaram sent her video greetings.

Dressed in a light blue Kancheevaram saree, and a diamond necklace gleaming around her neck, Meena Muthiah stole the show with her cheerful disposition.

The staff of Chettinad group of schools and colleges were sporting a gem-encrusted badge with her photo.

A dance drama was staged, followed by a concert by singer Harini.
