Buy your Gas Refills at Market Price from Today

Express News Service

CHENNAI: From today (April 1), consumers will have to pay the market rate for the LPG cylinders even if they have not registered for the PAHAL-DBTL scheme with the grace period for non-registered consumers coming to an end.

However, consumers who manage to become Cash Transfer Compliant (CTC)-eligible to receive subsidy in their bank accounts- after April 1, will receive the subsidy in their bank accounts  as per their entitlement of subsidised cylinders. This will be applicable for a known ‘parking period’ of three months till July 1.

Industry statistics indicate that 85.92 per cent of Tamil Nadu’s gas consumers are now Cash Transfer compliant as on March 31. In Chennai, a non-subsidised LPG 14.2 kg cylinder costs `605.5. CTC consumers get a subsidy of `200 per cylinder credited to their accounts.

During the grace period, non-CTC consumers received their entitlement of subsidised cylinders at the applicable subsidised retail selling price.

During the parking period,  for non-CTC consumers, the subsidy for the sale of subsidised cylinders per their entitlement shall be held back with the respective Oil Marketing Company and will be transferred to the consumers’ bank accounts in case they become CTC anytime during the parking period.
