CHENNAI: Former forest minister MSM Anandan was re-inducted into the cabinet with the same portfolio on Thursday. A party strongman, he represents Tirupur North in the Assembly.

Governor K Rosaiah accepted the recommendation to this effect from Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

While assuming office of Chief Minister for the fifth time on May 23, Jayalalithaa dropped two names - MSM Anandan and P Chendur Pandian - in the Panneerselvam ministry. Pandian recently passed away due to prolonged illness. A Raj Bhavan communique here said Anandan would be sworn in at a function to be held on August 9 at 3 pm. Till now, Edappadi K Palaniswami was holding the Forest portfolio.

This is the second change made in the Council of Ministers after Jayalalithaa assumed office on May 23. V Senthil Balaji was dropped as Transport Minister on July 27.
