No CBI Probe in Vishnu Priya Case

CHENNAI: Holding that it is not a straight jacket formula to transfer probe in a death case to the CBI merely based on apprehensions, Madras High Court has rejected a plea from Ravi, father of deceased Tiruchengode DSP Vishnu Priya, seeking an inquiry by the central agency into his daughter’s death.

“On a careful perusal of the entire status report and on examination of the material placed on record before this court, I have satisfactorily come to the conclusion that the investigation is going on in a proper and right direction and there is no infirmity in the same. The Investigating agency, CB-CID, has examined several persons including Namakkal SP Senthilkumar, Keezhakarai DSP K Maheswari, Aravakurichi DSP Geethanjali, and advocates S Vijayaragavan and Malaviya and others and collected various material documents such as suicide note, medical report, telephonic conversation made by deceased through mobile phones,” Justice R Subbiah pointed out while rejecting the plea for a CBI probe.

Vishnupriya who was serving as DSP of Thiruchengode died in August when probing the murder of Gokulraj.

Petitioner’s senior counsel P Wilson contended that the CB CID, being a wing of the State government and the investigation officers being subordinates of Namakkal SP, before whom they have to answer, might not be fair and proper.
