Express News Service

CHENNAI: With no disease outbreak on a large scale, the Chennai Corporation has said it will be scaling down the number of medical camps to focus only on risk-prone regions, which suffer from sanitation hazards. The 200 medical camps that are currently screening patients will be cut to around 100 after December, according to a senior official, who said that after a disaster like floods, there is usually waterborne disease outbreak like cholera, diarrhoea etc. “But many have been extra cautious after the floods, visiting camps nearby and getting preemptive help.”

In the past month, there have been 35,000 fever cases recorded by corporation medical camps, which have so far screened over 16,00,000 people.
