CHENNAI: The seventh edition of the inter-PSBB debate, ‘Close Encounters of the Eloquent Kind’, which was held recently at Vani Mahal, guaranteed a lot of entertainment for the audience as the budding debaters from classes 9-11 proved their debating skills on the topic ‘Has the path to economic progress led to an erosion of our Indian culture?’

Exploring the features of globalisation and other aspects of Indian economy, the team from PSBB Nungambakkam spoke for the topic, while the KK Nagar branch kids debated on how the evolution of culture had materialised the economic progress. The debate witnessed an exchange of different ideas, wealth of information, rebuttals and other counter arguments. The judges for the grand finale included historian Dr Chithra Madhavan, Sharad Agarwal, president, PSBB Millenium Schools and theatre person Karthik Kumar. Arjun Rau of Class 10 from the Nungambakkam branch was adjudged the best speaker, while Abhinove Nagarajan S of Class 11 from KK Nagar was the second best speaker and the third position was won by Raghav Anand of Class 11 from Nungambakkam branch. The grand trophy went to the KK Nagar team for the fourth consecutive year.
