CHENNAI: The All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), a central medical examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, on Saturday registered only 50 per cent attendance in the Chennai centres.
The examination is conducted under the 15 per cent of all-India quota and more in certain participating institutions.
The test was earlier held on May 3 which was cancelled by the Supreme Court following a leak of the question paper. Consequent to the order, the examination was held again on Saturday in 41 centres in Chennai for students across Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to Express, a senior CBSE Chennai region official said, “Only 50 per cent turned out for the exam, most of the students would have chosen other streams by now, this might be the reason for the poor turnout,” the official said.
