Evntz365 in collaboration with professional hip-hop choreographer and dancer Nimbel Funk, is organising ‘Funk-in India Dance Camp 2015’ — a cross-cultural event that aims to lay the foundation for dance enthusiasts in India to connect with the international dance community — between June 6 and June 9.
Being organised for the first time in the country, the camp will see world’s talented funk style choreographers and dancers from the US — Popin’ Pete and Yoda Jones — conducting a four-day intensive dance workshop. The internationally acclaimed talents have choreographed and danced for famous stars such as the late Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Usher, Justin Timberlake, The Black Eyed Peas, Janet Jackson, Gnarls Barkley and more. The event will see participants from Korea, Italy, Sri Lanka, Morocco and all over India attending the workshops by the dance celebrities. The four days include two days of workshops (June 6 and 7) where Popin’ Pete and Yoda Jones will demonstrate and coach students in the dance styles of house, popping, locking, waacking, hip-hop grooves, rhythm and freestyle. The third day will witness an intense competition at the Dance Battle preliminaries among individuals, teams and dance crews. On the last day, finalists will battle it out in front of the international judges. The event will also raise money for the Ackwerk Rural Development Foundation — a charitable organisation, and the Aum School Project, which provides basic education and amenities to over 60 underprivileged children in the villages of Navapatty and Mettur taluk in Salem.
