CHENNAI:Police have launched a hunt for an unidentified van driver who sped away after knocking down a traffic police sub-inspector near Kovilambakkam signal, when he attempted to catch the fleeing offender who had hit a motorist near Keelkattalai, recently.
According to the police, Venkatesan (49), the sub-inspector, witnessed the van driver knocking down a motorist and driving away without stopping at Keelkatalai.
Venkatesan chased the van and when it reached Kovilambakkam signal, he confronted the driver, but the driver drove off, knocking him down. The SI has been hospitalised.
