CHENNAI:Residents of Nainarkuppam village in Kancheepuram district on Friday appealed to the State government to give up the Silica extraction project of Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited saying it would destroy their livelihood resources.
In a petition submitted at the Chief Minister’s Special Cell in the Secretariat, the villagers said the proposed project would affect the irrigation system and lead to outbreak of diseases.
As such, the Chief Minister should take steps to give up this Silica extraction project, they pleaded.
