CHENNAI: The Nandalala Seva Samiti Trust celebrated the seventh birthday of its patron Pujyashri Mathioli R Saraswathi at Rani Seethai Hall recently. Several known faces of the city attended the celebration. On the occasion, Grammy award winning percussionist Vikku Vinayakram enthralled the audience with a power packed performance. Renowned investigative journalist and columnist S Gurumurthy and Lakshmi Menon, senior vice-president (Sales and New Initiatives) of The New Indian Express also attended the celebration.
“Events organised by Nandalala trust has always been close to my heart,” said Gurumurthy. “Many are following Saraswathi amma’s path, that in no way means any form of oppression or domination. Today in the globalised world, everyone is busy emulating the lifestyle of the west, but little do they understand that our people are purer and superior in many ways. Sadly neither our papers nor education tells us about it,” he said.
