The Rs 1 Crore 'Dosa' Probably Likes Chinese

The animal activists cry over how wrong it is to ship such exotic breeds over to India.

CHENNAI: I never thought the day would come when I heard about a dog whose middle name was Dosa! Although the Korean Dosa Mastiff(s), which cost a man from Bengaluru Rs 1 crore each last week probably has never tried one.

It’s crazy right? The Rs 2 crore, not the dosa. Just imagine how many dosas you could buy for that amount. For the record, Rs 1 crore could buy you Rs 5 lakh dosas or three Mercedes Benzes and even a couple of deluxe villas. And that’s just Rs 1 crore for ONE dog.

Satish S, the president of the Indian Dog Breeders Association, bought two. Did we mention they got picked up at the airport in a Rolls Royce and a Range Rover? Oddly enough, this rare breed that Satish has been reportedly waiting 20 years to get were ‘Made in China’. Although given it’s a boy and girl — here’s hoping the ‘arrangement’ will bring ‘good news’ soon, especially since both are high-bred, and there won’t be a dowry problem.

While the animal activists cry over how wrong it is to ship such exotic breeds over to India (Korean mastiffs need AC 24x7), breeders cry tears of joy in getting their hands of possible future puppies. Here are a few fun facts about the Mighty Dosa you can exploit if ever you get in a doggone discussion on social media.

For the breeders: They litter about four to six puppies

For pet owners: These canines like to ‘lean’ on people. (If smileys were allowed in a newspaper, this would be followed by one)

For kids’ parents: Apparently, supervision is required with these dogs around small children as they’re massive (an adult weighs 80 kg) and they sometimes, in their glee, tend to knock over children.

For junior vets: This breed is prone to bloating and commonly experience ‘cherry eye’

For animal lovers who may dream of buying into the family, be warned: even the Korean Mastiff’s less expensive country cousins that hail from Britain and Brazil are likely to cost more than your home loan.

But anyway, closer home...Here’s raising a piece of dosa to India’s most expensive dog to date. And of course, like we said — he’s already got a date.  Matrimonial websites will be barked down if they try any funny business.
