CHENNAI:  A magistrate court has postponed the hearing on the petition of the Nungambakkam police seeking one day custody of Ram Kumar, accused in the murder of Infosys employee Swathi.

Police seek custody to collect signatures from Ram Kumar to cross check his handwriting and also videograph him to cross examine with the CCTV footages on the day of the crime.

Advocate S P Ramaraj, who is appearing for Ram Kumar, strongly opposed the police petition. He argued that police had no proper evidence in the case and have again sought custody of Ram Kumar only to forge fresh evidences against him. He said the police may even take a fresh video of Ram Kumar and submit it as the CCTV footage taken from the

Nungambakkam locality on the day of incident.

Magistrate Gopinath adjourned the hearing to Thursday.
