2 Hit-and-run Cases Kill Two

CHENNAI: Two persons were killed and another suffered grievous injuries in separate hit-and-run cases on the East Coast Road in Kancheepuram district on Saturday.

A 32-year-old pawn broker was killed while his friend survived with injuries in their bike’s  collision with a SUV in the early hours of Saturday near Dhanalakshmi Engineering college near Mamallapuram.

The deceased was identified as A. Kushal Chand, a native of Panruti in Cuddalore district. He was siting on the pillion while the survivor V.Subash (24) was riding the bike to Chennai.

Around 3 am, they were near Mamallapuram when a SUV collided with their two-wheeler and spead ahead. Locals rushed to the aid and moved the two of them to a hospital nearby where Kushal Chand was declared brought dead. Subash was moved to a private hospital in the city and is undergoing treatment.

In another incident on Vadapattinam, D Pazhani (38), a native of Agalur near Gingee and a casual labourer, was walking on the roadside when an unidentified vehicle fatally knocked him down.
