Birthday celebration ends in tragedy for youth, friend

The duo were trying to overtake a lorry, when a vehicle coming from the same direction hit the bike, killing both on the spot.

CHENNAI: A youth, who wanted to celebrate his birthday with friends near Acharapakkam Temple, and his friend were killed  when an unidentified vehicle rammed their bike on Wednesday early morning.

The deceased were identified as M Lazar Prakash (23), a  resident of Pallavaram, and  his friend S Yucatan (31), who was the pillion rider. Police said the accident took place around 2 am near Mahindra World City. The duo were trying to overtake a lorry, when a vehicle coming from the same direction hit the bike, killing both on the spot. The duo were not wearing helmet.      

In another accident, two persons were killed when a Cuddalore-bound bus from Chennai hit a stationary container on GST Road in Melmaruvathur on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Ahmed Rowthar and Ramamurthy.
