CHENNAI: A crack in the suburban rail line between Chetpet and Egmore stations affected train services during the morning hours on Tuesday. The crack is suspected to have developed due to the cold  nights.


A few suburban and express trains were delayed as local trains were rerouted on the line meant for express services till the railway staff repaired the crack.

According to railway sources, the motorman of a Chengalpet-Beach (train no. 40504) EMU train noticed a crack in the rail between Chetpet and Egmore stations around 6.20 am. The crack was fixed by 7.30 am.
