CHENNAI: Refuting actor Vishal’s charge of foul play in the rejection of his nomination papers for the RK Nagar by-election scheduled for December 21, the office of the Returning Office on Friday released a video, which showed Sumathy and Deepan denying they had signed Vishal’s papers to propose him as a candidate.

In the video taken on Thursday (December 7), Sumathy and Deepan reiterated that they did not sign the nomination papers. The signature found in Vishal’s papers was ‘not mine’, Deepan said, adding that in the wake of this development, he was getting unwanted calls from unknown persons and so his routine life had been affected. Sumathy said the mediapersons were torturing her by waiting in front of her house with cameras and asserted that she had not signed the actor’s nomination papers.

However, Deepan committed a faux pas at the end of his deposition, saying. “Naan potta kaiyezhuthu ennuthu illai” (the signature which I put was not mine). Pointing out this, Vishal tweeted, saying, “Here is another instance of mockery of democracy.”
