CHENNAI: The Centre will request the Tamil Nadu government to provide good translators to set the NEET Tamil question paper next year, said Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, in response to concerns over an NGO pointing out nearly 49 errors in the examination held on May 6. “Last year, we had different sets of question paper for each language. Apart from this, the question papers for Hindi and English test takers were also different.

But this year, we decided to translate one paper into many languages and this was the issue,” said Javadekar, addressing the press here on Friday. “I will ask the Tamil Nadu government to send good translators for next year.”

Tech for All, a Chennai-based NGO, had earlier alleged that the common medical entrance exam question paper in Tamil had 68 translation errors in 49 questions. The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) will look into the mistakes made in the Tamil question paper and will take appropriate action, Javadekar said. On candidates from Tamil Nadu being forced to take the test at centres outside the State, the minister said he would make sure the issue would not arise again.
