Robbery of Tamil Nadu businessman caught on camera

CHENNAI: A CCTV footage of four men on two motorcycles robbing a businessman in the middle of the road in full public view at Alandur on Saturday has sent shock waves among the public.

Hareesh, a businessman of Alandur was returning from work at Guindy to his house on Saturday afternoon. “He was driving his car. Four men — two wearing helmets and two masked — were  following him from his office. They spotted him carrying a suitcase and suspected it to be filled with cash and robbed him,” said a police source.

The footage showed two bikes intercepting the car and the pillion riders getting off and threatening Hareesh to hand over the suitcase and snatching it from him. The other road users stopped and witnessed the incident. A few minutes later, the men escaped on their motorbikes. The victim filed a complaint with St Thomas Mount police station that the men had taken away  Rs 7,000 kept in the suitcase.

Two persons arrested for attacking constable at Marina

Chennai: Two persons were arrested for allegedly attacking a police constable at the Marina during a vehicle check in the wee hours of Friday. They were allegedly in an inebriated condition when they attacked the constable, police said. The constable attached to Marina police station suffered a fracture in the finger and was treated at a hospital. The incident happened when constable Marikannan and other policemen were conducting vehicle checks.
