CHENNAI: A 34-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the police against a man who posed as a priest and sexually abused her at her house in Kancheepuram. The man has been identified as Jayaseelan, 40, claimed to be a priest in Kancheepuram, and had people from the locality and neighbouring districts visiting him to get blessings. “Recently, the victim, believing that she was possessed of an evil spirit, approached Jayaseelan. He wanted to perform a special pooja and told the woman and her husband that he would come to their house,” said a police personnel.

Jayaseelan reached the house to perform the pooja and asked the victim’s husband to wait outside.
Meanwhile, he sexually abused the woman and the latter raised an alarm and her husband came to her rescue. But, Jayaseelan escaped through the back-door of the house. Subsequently, the woman lodged a complaint with the Cheyyur police who have launched a hunt for the fake priest.
