Metro Water clears sewage from Pallikaranai pond

The water body in Kovalan Street was recently cleared by the Greater Chennai Corporation of vegetation.

CHENNAI: Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Metro Water) has cleared sewage dumped into a shallow pond in Pallikaranai, after TNIE highlighted that sewage from tanker lorries were being dumped in the water body during the night.

The water body in Kovalan Street was recently cleared by the Greater Chennai Corporation of vegetation. Residents are concerned about groundwater contamination and pollution in a bigger pond adjacent to the shallow pond.
