NEW DELHI: The political temperature of the national capital soared on Thursday after reports emerged about Delhi Police of framing charges against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia over the alleged attack on a top bureaucrat in February.

According to sources, apart from Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, names of 11 other AAP MLAs are also likely to be included in the chargesheet.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), however, has termed the move as a ‘conspiracy’ to frame their national convener.

“Delhi Police has been planting all kinds of fictitious stories since last four months, but has been unable to answer a simple question that if the chief secretary was assaulted how is he seen in the CCTV footage walking out on his own from the CM residence? The truth is that a conspiracy was hatched to defame the Delhi CM and Deputy CM in a bid to destabilise the elected state government,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP spokesperson.

Kejriwal, the face of the AAP, was a month ago accused of physically assaulting Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash at his residence along with few other MLAs of the party. The incident resulted in a chain of events where the IAS associations from across the nation coming out to protest condemning the alleged assault of the senior most bureaucrat of any government. Further, the officers working in the Delhi
government, according to the AAP went on a ‘strike’ where senior bureaucrats refused to attend the meeting called by the ministers.

On February 23, a police team examined the CCTV system installed Kejriwal’s official residence in Civil Lines area and seized the hard disk connected to the system for investigation.
