NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has directed its district offices to complete verification of beneficiaries under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) by April 15 using a mobile-based application, according to an official order.

Issued by the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD) on Monday, the order mandates verification through the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) application, also known as the Beneficiary Satyapan App (BSA), in line with directives from the Ministry of Rural Development.

The verification process has been initiated under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) to ensure beneficiaries are authenticated in a systematic and timely manner, it said. District officers have been asked to carry out the exercise as per prescribed guidelines and ensure completion within the stipulated deadline.

The IGNWPS, implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development, is a non-contributory pension scheme aimed at providing social security to widows from below poverty line (BPL) families. A pension of `300 per month is provided to widows aged 40 to 79 years, while `500 per month is given to those aged 80 and above under the scheme.
