Duo held for selling fake degrees

Two persons who were preparing and circulating fake educational certificates of universities were nabbed by police.

HYDERABAD: Two persons who were preparing and circulating fake educational certificates of various universities were nabbed by the police. Ten fake educational certificates, 25 fake stamps and two mobile phones were seized from them.

The Central Zone Task Force sleuths nabbed the accused D Saibaba alias Sai alias Baba of Madannapet and C Sampath Kumar of Saleem Nagar in Malakpet at Bharath Nagar in Madannapet.

Sai Baba is a private employee while Sampath Kumar is a realtor, police said.

The duo were preparing fake degree educational certificates of BA and BCom courses of Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, Osmania University, Anna University and Intermediate certificates by scanning through computer and putting fake stamps with forged signatures. They would sell the same to the students for Rs 1,500 per certificate.

Sai Baba used to prepare the certificates while Sampath Kumar would deliver them to the customers. Police seized several provisional certificate and consolidated memorandum of marks of Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, Osmania University and Anna University.

The accused and the seized property were handed over to Madannapet police for further investigation.
