An inspiration for many kids her age, Divya Nagesh, the child artist in the super-hit movie Arundhati was interacted with her peers and the media at the 16th International Children’s Film Festival.
Divya who started acting at the age of four has about 40 films under her belt and a host of ad commercials and 60 television serials in both Tamil and Telugu. “I have had the opportunity to work with almost all the top directors in both Tamil and Telugu. However, working with directors like Mani Ratnam and Priyadarshan would be a dream come true,” says the 13-year-old child artist.
Talking about her role in Arundhati, Divya claims to be the director’s actors and just followed the script and directors instruction to portray the complex character. Incidentally, she won the Nandi Awards in the child actress category for the role.
Divya who has a filmography that would make any senior artist envious wants to pursue acting in the future as a protagonist. “I love acting. It has not only helped me to hone my skills but has also given me the opportunity to explore new talents,” says the little star. In spite of having a busy schedule Divya manages to find time for her studies. A student of Swamy Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai manages, she to manages a fine balance between her passion and education.
“I carry my books along with me to the shoots. In between my shots I sit and study if I have to prepare for any exams,” says Divya. Apart from acting, she also takes lessons in singing, dancing and swimming that would help her secure a long spell in the film industry. Divya who will be seen the Tamil and Telugu remake of Nagesh Kukunoor’s movie Iqbal also wants to be part of Bollywood projects.
She is a big fan of Tollywood superstars Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna, and says “I have seen all of Nagarjuna’s movies. I would to love to work with him,” says the child star.
With numerous movies and television serials in her kitty, her role in movies like Arundhati and Aparichitudu would always remain close to her heart, as these movies gave her the much deserved stardom in the main stream cinema.
