HYDERABAD: Archbishop of Hyderabad, Marampudi M Joji (68) died of a heart attack here today.

Joji was born on October 7, 1942 in Bhimavaram, West Godavari district. He was ordained a priest on December 14, 1971 and consecrated as Archbishop of Hyderabad on January 29, 2000.

The archbishop is said to have had a heart attack in his sleep. When Joji did not came out of his room to attend to church duties this evening, his staff tried to wake him up and called in doctors. Doctors said he had died in his sleep. Joji was a heart patient and had undergone treatment at Care Hospital. As a mark of respect to the departed soul, all catholic schools, colleges and institutions will remain closed tomorrow. His body would be placed at St Mary’s Church , Secunderabad, tomorrow for people to pay their respects. It would be shifted to Vijayawada on Sunday where he would be buried in accordance with his last wish.
