HYDERABAD: “Whenever there is a bomb blast in temples, do you arrest Hindus ? Why did you arrest Muslims when there was a blast in Mecca Masjid ?’’ This was the `poser’ by Huji operative Shaik Abdul Khaja alias Amjad before his interrogators today.

Khaja, who is in police custody for five days was grilled by the Intelligence Bureau and Hyderabad City police officials today.

Sources told Express that Khaja revealed that the Riyaz Bhatkal and his brother Iqbal Bhatkal -- both prime accused in the August 25 twin bomb blasts -- are taking shelter in Karachi and Riyadh respectively.

``After fleeing the country, both met me in Karachi,’’ Khaja said. He further said that his life was in danger had he not fled to Karachi. ``I would have ended up like Bilal bhai (the Huji commander who died in a shoot out in Karachi). There was tremendous pressure on me to pump in fake currency into the country,’’ he said.

He also revealed that he had a share in the Rs 30-lakh fake currency which was smuggled into West Bengal a couple of months ago. However, it was caught by the police there.

Khaja further revealed that he along with Bilal and one Shareef had masterminded the October 2005 suicide bombing at Task Force office.

Though the investigating agencies were hoping that he would reveal the names of Hyderabadis’ who are based in Pakistan and UAE and working for various terror outfits, he did not disclose anything about them. All he said was about Raziuddin Nasir, the alleged LeT militant, arrested by the Karnataka police a couple of years back.

``We used to meet frequently in Pakistan as we belong to Hyderabad,’’ he said.

He also spoke about the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition saying that was the incident which made them join hands with terror groups.

Khaja who was lodged in Chanchalguda prison after his arrest on January 18 was taken into custody by the police yesterday evening.

A resident of Malakpet, he was caught in Colombo and flown into the city from Chennai. Sources said he has so far not revealed any future plans of terror groups.
