HYDERABAD: In a case of the hunter getting hunted, a businessman who tried to cheat by claiming he was in possession of a treasure was kidnapped by associates of the notorious Ali Bhai. The businessman was confined for nearly a month for the 'treasure', before being rescued by police on Monday.
Police arrested Nihal and six others- Mohammed Aijaz, Mohammed Saleem, Mohammed Mansoor Ali alias Javeed, Mohammed Muzafaruddin, Shaik Waheed and Mohammed Hasan Ahmed. An air pistol with pellets, four daggers, eight mobile phones and two vehicles were recovered.
Police said the kidnap was planned by Ali Bhai, while his brother executed the plan.
27-year-old businessman, Mohammed Naseeruddin hails from Watan Bagh in Zaheerabad. "Naseerudin had himself spread a rumour that he found a treasure in an dilapidated building worth Rs 100 crore. His intention was to cheat innocent people by luring them to buy gold at a cheaper price,'' city police commissioner AK Khan told reporters. However, the rumour reached Rafiq Hussain alias Nihal, who is the brother of gangster Syed Abed Hussain, known more popularly as Ali Bhai. Nihal informed Ali Bhai about Naseeruddin being in possession of a treasure. The latter then planned to kidnap the businessman to extort Rs 50 crore as ransom.
On directions of Ali Bhai, Nihal procured an air pistol resembling a gun, daggers and vehicles.
While Nihal and his associates planned to kidnap Naseeruddin, he went missing from Zaheerabad.
"On November 2, Nihal got information that Naseeruddin was staying at the R-Inn Continental hotel at Nampally. Nihal along with his associates went there in two cars and abducted Naseeruddin," Khan said.
The abductors then took Naseeruddin to Zaheerabad and tried to extract information about the treasure.
They confined him in various lodges and Nihal's farm house of Nihal and beat him up mercilessly demanding Rs 50 crore ransom.
"Finally, the abductors came to know that Naseeruddin was not in possession of any treasure and made calls to his brother demanding Rs 30 lakh ransom for his release,'' Khan said. Naseeruddin's wife, Anjum then lodged a complaint with the Nampally police against her husband's mysterious disappearance. Task Force sleuths then rescued Naseeruddin from a room at the Sri Radha lodge in Secunderabad.
