HYDERABAD: Set in the present day deserts of Rajasthan, the storyline of Dekh Indian Circus depicts the daily travails of a couple, Jethu and Kajro who are investing their lives in fulfilling the eternal Indian dream of educating their children, Ghumroo and Panni. Then comes a circus nearby, which is Jhumroo and Panni's new escapade into a fantasy world. But like the circus in every nook and corner of rural India, Jethu and Kajro also find it difficult to see the dream of their children come true and hence become puppets in the circus of life.

The film, shortlisted for the Indian competition, has been written and directed by Mangesh Hadawale, whose movie Tingya had won an Oscar nomination. Talking about his movie Mangesh says, "It is like depicting two sides of the same country. You know when soft drinks like Coke and Pepsi can reach these households, why not water or other basic facilities." He adds, "Our movie has been getting positive responses from many people. I believe in a simple concept, the more original we get, the more international we go. People will not want to see what they already know."

The producer Chiraag Shah says, "It is very difficult to film such stuff and yet make it relatable for children. We travelled across Rajasthan for 25 days and learnt about the Rabari community."
