Homemaker attacked, 1.5-tola gold chain robbed

HYDERABAD: Unidentified persons attacked a 35-year-old homemaker at her house and decamped with 1.5-tola gold ornaments on Monday. The woman suffered minor injuries. According to police, the victim, Vijayamma, was attacked at Vijayasri colony in Vanasthalipuram police station limits.  Around 2 p.m., Vijayamma opened the main door of her house soon as she heard noise of the main gate. Soon as Vijayamma opened the door, two men pushed her into the house. While one of them closed her mouth, the other one tried to snatch away her gold chain, SI Lakshmi Naik said.

But when Vijayamma resisted the attempts of the robbers, one of them pulled out a small knife and threatened to kill her.  Vijayamma suffered a cut on the little finger in her left hand.

Police were alerted about the incident and after going through photos of robbers, Vijayamma identified one of the accused as Mallela Vasu. Vasu was arrested by city police in 2006 in burglary cases.
