HC asks Centre to clarify stand on red sanders

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the AP High Court on Monday granted time to the Central government to ascertain its stance on grant of permission for disposal of a specified variety of red sanders.  

The bench is dealing with a petition filed by former minister and Secunderabad Cantonment MLA P Shankar Rao complaining that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and forest minister S Vijayarama Raju had entered into a criminal conspiracy for sale of red sanders at a throw away price without calling for global tenders. .

The state government pointed out that it had in its possession about 10,000 cubic feet of wood for which necessary permission from the Centre is required.
