HYDERABAD: Exhorting the youth to follow the ideology of  freedom fighter Vavilala Gopalakrishnayya, Lok Satta president Jayaprakash Narayan has lamented that the present day politicians were not committed to values.  He was speaking at the Vavilala Gopalakrishnayya Memorial Lecture organised by the Vavilala Samstha, on ‘Political leadership - yesterday, today and benchmarks for the next generation.’

The LSP leader said Vavilala had followed the Gandhian philosophy and started his career as a journalist before taking part in the freedom struggle.

Vavilala was elected to the Madras presidency in 1952 and later to the Andhra Assembly in 1955 and the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1962 and 1967 from Sattenapalli in Guntur district, he said.
