Relief yet to be released: Panabaka

HYDERABAD: The promise to deliver handloom weavers from rising debt awaits official sanction, despite allocations made in the budget. A sum of Rs 3,000 crore allocated to the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to benefit weavers is yet to be released, Union minister of state for textiles Panabaka Lakshmi has said.

“My duty is to implement the national policies first. Weavers from the state will not be overlooked,” said the minister at the inauguration of 'Silk Fab' Exhibition at Kamma Sangham here on Tuesday.

The exhibition, sponsored by the Union ministry of textiles and being organised by the National Handloom Development Corporation Limited, will be on till January 15.
