HYDERABAD: The High Court on Wednesday asked the CBI to inform it by Friday when its investigation of the Emaar Properties scam would be completed.

Justice R Subhash Reddy tossed the query to CBI while hearing a petition filed by one of the accused, G V Vijaya Raghav, finance head (south) of Emaar-MGF who is now lodged in the Chanchalguda prison.

The executive’s petition seeks a stay of the investigation, and a ruling that its continuance is illegal because the agency has not been unearthing any fresh evidence.

After hearing a submission by Diljit Singh, counsel for Vijaya Raghav, the judge asked the CBI counsel how the agency can seek continuance of the probe after having stated in a lower court that investigation has been completed.

The judge asked the CBI counsel how long the agency would take to complete the investigation.

The CBI counsel asked for 15 days’ time to seek instructions in this regard.

The judge gave him one day and scheduled the next hearing for March 30.
