Protestors attacked at actor's house

Express News Service

The henchmen of Tollywood actor and producer M Mohan Babu on Wednesday attacked members of Brahmin community who went to his Jubilee Hills residence to stage a protest against the ‘objectionable’ scenes in the movie “Denikaina Ready.”

Some of the victims suffered serious injuries while traffic came to a standstill on the road even as the policemen who reached there remained mute spectators for sometime. As if that was not enough, Mohan Babu’s son Manchu Vishnu, who is also the lead actor of the film, declared that he was “Denikaina Ready”.

After participating in a discussion in a TV studio about the objections they raised on the movie, about 50 Brahmin youths  descended on Mohan Babu’s house Wednesday evening to stage a protest. However, about 35 to 40 of the producer’s followers were already present inside, police sources said.

As soon as the protestors started raising slogans demanding a ban on the film in front of the actor’s house at Filmnagar, Mohan Babu’s men, armed with lathis, pounced upon the group and began thrashing them. Some were even chased, punched and trampled upon. Though some policemen arrived at the scene, they appeared at a loss on how to deal with the situation.

Even after the protestors had run away, Mohan Babu’s men obstructed the traffic to search for any more leftover protestors. “They were behaving like hooligans,” said a person who was stuck in the traffic jam.

Minutes later, Manchu Vishnu emerged from the house and said that if anyone tries to attack their house, they would not keep quiet. “We are not wearing bangles. Why should we keep quiet if they come and attack our house?” he shouted. “We are Denikaina Ready. Do you think these protestors are Brahmins? We have not hurt anybody’s sentiments. What is this protest for? Vested interests are behind it,” he said.  More: city express
