A 19-year-old engineering student attempted suicide by pouring kerosene and setting himself ablaze after his girlfriend refused to go to an ice cream parlour with him.
Police suspect that he took the extreme step to blackmail the girl. K Sai Krishna, a second year student of B.Tech (mechanical) in Princeton college of Engineering and Technology and a native of Bellampalli in Adilabad district, was hospitalised with 50 per cent burns. He attempted to end his life near the railway tracks.
