3 hurt in pressure cooker blast at prison

Express News Service

Two prisoners and one warder of the Chanchalguda central prison were injured when a pressure cooker in which red dal was being cooked, exploded in the staff kitchen hall on Monday morning.

The victims - prisoners who work in the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the jail staff - escaped with minor burns on their hands and faces and were treated at the jail hospital.

Prison officials said two prisoners and one warder were preparing food. The pressure cooker was not sufficiently filled with redgram dal that resulted in more steam and pressure.
