Denizens of Hyderabad faced severe hardship as all petrol bunks were shut by 5.30 pm on Monday after the Confederation of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) began their work-only-one-shift indefinite protest.
Customers who went to fill petrol after 5.30 pm were left disappointed as petrol stations shut down. “I knew that the petrol service stations would work only one-shift, but I never thought it would be implemented effectively,” a customer at Full Moon Petrol Service Station, Begumpet R Nageswara Rao said. S Veeru, an another customer said that he was not aware of the one-shift call. He had to park his bike near a service station as his bike ran out of fuel.
“Customers were informed about the one-shift call. If they come after closing time, we cannot help them,” a petrol station manager said.
“We will work in a single shift from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, with a lunch break between 1 pm and 2 pm, till government spells out its commitment regarding our commission hikes,” CIPD members said.
