The Estimates Committee of the State Assembly on Monday directed the officials concerned to release a white paper on the alleged irregularities in the ongoing expansion works of Rajiv Rahadari, a state highway connecting Hyderabad to Ramagundam via Karimnagar.
The committee also decided to undertake a Delhi tour so as to meet Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh to request him to release Central funds for the project, which have been pending for the past three years. The members of the Estimates Committee met at the Assembly under the chairmanship of MLA Cheraku Mutyam Reddy.
According to the sources, TRS MLA KT Rama Rao raised the issue of corruption in the ongoing expansion works of the Rajiv Rahadari during the meeting.
In fact, the charges of corruption and the poor quality of works on the Rs 1,466 crore highway also rocked the previous budget session of the Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Estimates Committee, which wants to replace the present street-lighting system in urban areas with a solar system so as to save power across the state, will visit Tank Bund here on Tuesday to study an experimental project started there.
