Security system at railway stations

In view of the security threats at railway stations, the South Central Railway (SCR) is putting an Integrated Security System at Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Tirupati railway stations at a cost of Rs 6.1 crore.

The installation of the security systems is at an advanced stage and would be made functional within a month, SCR chief public relations officer K Sambasiva Rao told Express.

Under the system CCTV cameras, under- vehicle scanners, X-ray baggage scanners and other security equipment would be installed.

Installation of video recording server network assigned storage, direct attach storage, PC work station have been completed. About ten LCDs of 42 inches have also been put up in all the three stations. About 10 PTZ IP dome cameras at Secunderabad and three at Hyderabad stations have been installed.

As many as 20 bomb disposal and detection  equipment consisting of real time viewing system, bomb basket, deep search and portable generator, telescopic prodder explosive vapour detector were also installed. The locations for UV scanners have been finalised and X-ray baggage were also installed, he added.
