2 kids crushed to death

Two children were crushed to death and a 10-year-old boy hospitalised with serious injuries after a speeding truck ran over them while they were crossing a road here in Rajendranagar police station limits Friday.

The truck driver was taken into custody and the truck was seized.

At around 7.15 pm, when the victims were crossing the road with a cycle near PV Narasimha Rao Express Flyover, a speeding truck coming from Upparapally to Hyderguda hit the children. The truck then went on to ram the pillar of PVNR Express Flyover.

Mohammed Zahed (7) and Mustafa (4) died on the spot and Wahed was hospitalised. All are residents of Jalalbabanagar in Rajendranagar. Wahed and Mustafa are the brothers.

Locals noticed the accident and alerted the police. “The truck driver, who was driving the vehicle at a high speed, lost control of the steering,” police said.

The driver, who also received injures and was shifted to a nearby hospital, was beaten up by the locals.

The victims’ family lodged a police complaint.

Case were registered under section 304-A (death due to negligence driving) and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) of the IPC and investigation is on.

The bodies of the victims were shifted to Osmania general Hospital for postmortem examination.
