British Council Offers IELTS Test Material

HYDERABAD: Candidates who wish to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)exam can now avail preparatory material online from the IELTS Zone, a facility launched by the British Council at the British Library here.

The zone has book resources, online systems, listening posts and other paraphernalia to assist the candidates preparing for the test. It is second such facility in the country, after Chennai.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of IELTS examination, director of the British Council, India, Rob Lynes inaugurated the facility on Wednesday.

Besides getting access to good practice material online, candidates who register with the IELTS Zone can become eligible for the new IELTS scholarship instituted by the British Council for those who secure admission in universities in the United Kingdom. The membership fee to use the facility is `500 per month.

Interacting with the mediapersons after the launch, Lynes said UK is the second preferred destination for Indian students after US, and the numbers are rising every year.

According to him, the United Kingdom attracts four lakh international students annually, of which a substantial number is from India.
