HYDERABAD: After actress Samantha was roped in by a leading footwear brand to endorse it, it is now Prince Mahesh Babu who has entered the frame.
Known to be choosy about the brands he promotes, actor Mahesh Babu has now added a popular footwear brand to his list of endorsements. His association with the brand was announced in the city on Tuesday, dressed casually in a black shirt teamed with jeans, Mahesh Babu addressed questions with crisp and witty answers that had the media in spilts.
Talking about his association, the actor said, “I am really happy to be associated with them as it is one that caters to everyone, both in terms of quality and also price. I look forward to this association.”
The otherwise dull press conference was also made lively when someone asked him if he wears the brand he endorses. “I have to start wearing them now right?” he joked.
After his 2011 film Dookudu, the actor will now be seen playing a police officer in the Srinu Vaitla directed Aagadu. “I did play a cop in Dookudu, but it wasn’t very well-rounded. This role is a full fledged one, and is much more exciting.” Deftly stirring the media from asking further questions on the film, he said, “We have to wait and watch the film. It’s only a week away.”
The 39-year old actor on his part has big hopes for Aagadu. “As far as I know, this is going to be the biggest hit in my career,” said the Pokiri star who also shot down rumours of him collaborating with Tamil director Shankar anytime soon, after the latter was seen at the audio launch of Aagadu.
“I am glad that Shankar was present at the audio function. But, I won’t be able to make it to the audio launch of Manohara as I have another commitment,” quipped Mahesh when asked if he would attend the audio launch of Shankar’s Manohara.
With many Tollywood stars taking up period films that turned into blockbusters over the past few years, the actor seems reticent to take up a historical film at the moment. “Not any time soon. The stakes are too high and it involves a lot of risks, even the budget is too high.”
While his previous movie One-Nenokkadine was criticised for its complex theme, the actor is positive about the experience and hasn’t ruled out similar films in the future.
“It was good learning experience. We’d like to make it a better next time,” he added. Though the hunky star acted with his father Krishna as a child artiste, fans will have to wait a long time before they get to see the father-son duo again on celluloid. “I’m still waiting for the right script that will give me an opportunity to work with my father.” As for his son Gautam acting in films in future, the actor has no such plans at present.
Aagadu is set to release on September 19.
