Hyderabad Police Gets Wi-Fi Connectivity

HYDERABAD: All police stations and offices of DCPs, and ACPs in Hyderabad police commissionerate would henceforth be Wi-fi enabled. Launching Wi-Fi enabled environment in police stations and all other units here on Friday, Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahender Reddy said that the new initiative of installing Wi-Fi in all police stations would help police in speeding up investigation process.

With an initiative in making the entire work area of Hyderabad police, all police stations both law and order and traffic, women, all officers of CAR, CSW, SB, Task Force, ACPs, DCPs will be equipped with Wi-Fi routers connected through high speed internet connectivity that enables a virtual single office.

‘’The objective of providing Wi-Fi in work areas is to improve collaboration between staff within and across the department by accessing internet simultaneously thereby leading to better decision-making, helping them meet their deadlines, sharing of data/information, access to department business applications and systems remotely, improving communication etc,’’ the police commissioner said.

The new initiative would help police in keep tracking crime and criminal data, daily progress of activities by all police simultaneously, online update of facebook status, Hawk Eye etc, tracking and monitoring the movement of patrol and blue colts vehicle to reach the incident spot in time.

Citizens reaching the police stations can share the data stored in their devices with police required for investigation or any other purpose using Wi-Fi distributed network. Later, the police commissioner distributed routers to inspectors of each zone in the city. All joint police commissioners, deputy commissioners were present.
