Workshop on Emerging Trends of Iron Ores

HYDERABAD: The Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME), Hyderabad chapter organised a one-day workshop on “Emerging trends in Processing and Utilisation of Iron ores” in the city on Sunday.

Narendra Kothari, chairman and managing director, NMDC Limited emphasised the need for technology development and research in beneficiation and upgradation of low grade iron ores. Narendra Kumar Nanda, president, IIME Hyderabad chapter & director (Technical), NMDC Limited presided over the function and emphasized on better utilisation of iron ore by exploring technologies like dry beneficiation. Prof TC Rao, former director RRL, Bhopal, Y J Bhaskar Rao, director, NGRI and P S Parihar, director, AMD, SK Sharma vice president, IIME Hyderabad chapter & head, R&D centre, NMDC Limited and GV Rao, secretary, IIME Hyderabad chapter were also present.

The workshop was attended by practicing engineers, scientists, managers, academicians, graduate and post graduate students, research scholars, officials from statutory bodies, equipment suppliers, PSUs and private industries working in the field of mineral engineering.
